A retard limit Lim is referred with a map by using target internal combustion engine torque Tq and engine rotation number Ne (S2). When knocking is detected and ignition time retard amount RET determined by adding a predetermined ignition time retard amount increase change value α to a preceding ignition time retard amount RETz is larger than the retard limit Lim, the ignition time retard amount RET is set as the retard limit Lim (S6), and a time determined by reducing the retard limit Lim from a base ignition time ADVm is set as an ignition time ADV (S7). Therein, when an operation region is a specified operation region, pre-ignition avoiding control is executed (S9).
