Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, for suppressing the outflow of NOx.SOLUTION: The control device for the internal combustion engine performs normal operation control including first lean control to set the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into an exhaust emission control catalyst to be a lean air-fuel ratio and first rich control to set the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust emission control catalyst to be a rich air-fuel ratio. During a period for the normal operation control, sequentially after finishing fuel cut control, the control device performs second rich control to set the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas to be a rich air-fuel ratio and second lean control to set the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas to be a lean air-fuel ratio. The control device performs control so that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust emission control catalyst in the second lean control is leaner than the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust emission control catalyst in the first lean control.
