Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the flow-out of NOx from an exhaust purification catalyst or an unburnt gas even if there arises an error in an output value of an air-fuel ratio sensor or the like at an upstream side.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine having an exhaust purification catalyst 20 and a downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor 41 comprises: feedback control means for feedback-controlling an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas so as to reach a target air-fuel ratio; and learning means for correcting the target air-fuel ratio on the basis of an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas which is detected by the downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor. The target air-fuel ratio is switched between a plurality of air-fuel ratios which are different from a theoretical air-fuel ratio. In the case that the air-fuel ratio which is detected by the downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor is maintained within an air-fuel ratio region in the vicinity of the theoretical air-fuel ratio for a theoretical air-fuel ratio maintaining determination time or longer when the target air-fuel ratio is set at a rich air-fuel ratio, the learning means performs theoretical air-fuel ratio pasting learning for correcting the target air-fuel ratio or the like so that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is changed to a rich side at the feedback control.
