Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure stable combustibility by properly controlling the equivalence ratio immediately after stratified combustion is switched to homogeneous combustion.
SOLUTION: When stratified combustion is switched to homogeneous combustion (S21-S23), the residual quantity of EGR is estimated, and whether combustibility becomes unstable or not is judged based on the result. If the combustibility is judged to become unstable, the process to switch the target equivalence ratio to the limiter HTMNT capable of securing the combustion stability in steps is applied (S24, S25). An adverse effect on combustibility due to the residual EGR can be avoided when stratified combustion is switched to homogeneous combustion, and stable combustibility can be secured.
