Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overshoot of an engine revolution speed at engine start, by making an actual engine revolution match with a target revolution speed at that time.
SOLUTION: The valve lift amount and operation angle of an intake valve 2 are changed by a valve lift amount-changing device 9, so as to conform the actual engine revolution speed to the target one at engine start. Specifically, the valve lifting amount and operation angle of the intake valve 2 are lessened, so as to lessen an intake air amount to be taken in a cylinder, until the engine revolution speed reaches the peak of revolution speed at start, or when the integrated air intake amount in the cylinder is small than the amount, corresponding to the capacity in the intake pipes 51 and 52 from a throttle valve 56 to the cylinder.
