Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine which provides an appropriate countermeasure for the trouble of increase of the torque variation caused by the excess of the quantity of internal exhaust gas re- circulation (internal EGR quantity) in a prescribed cylinder.
SOLUTION: When the internal EGR quantity is excessive in a prescribed cylinder, the quantity of exhaust gas returning from a combustion chamber 2 to an intake pathway 3 is increased in the exhaust process of the cylinder, and the transition of the intake pressure PM in a period corresponding to the intake process of the cylinder is higher than usual. Accordingly, it is determined that the cylinder is the one in which the torque variation is increased caused by the excess of the internal EGR quantity based on the facts that the torque variation dln(i) in the cylinder is large and that the peak value PMmax(i) of the intake pressure PM in the period is larger than the peak value PMmax(i-1) of the intake pressure PM in the period corresponding to the intake process of a cylinder which is in the intake process just before the above-mentioned cylinder by a prescribed value B.
