To provide a control device for a manhole pump device that prevents the occurrence of foreign matter tangling in an impeller and blocking inside a pump casing by accumulating without increasing a starting frequency, and a control method of the manhole pump device.
This control device includes a control part installed in the manhole pump device including a manhole for accumulating sewage flowing in from an inflow pipe, a submerged pump for pressure-feeding the sewage accumulated in the manhole to an outflow pipe, and a water level sensor for measuring the water level of the sewage accumulated in the manhole, for starting the submerged pump when the water level measured by the water level sensor reaches a prescribed pump starting water level HWL, and stopping the submerged pump when the water level reaches a pump stopping water level LWL. The control part controls the submerged pump by combining first rotational control for driving the submerged pump at a prescribed steady rotational speed and second rotational control including control for driving the submerged pump at a rotational speed different from the steady rotational speed, after the submerged pump is started until the water level reaches the pump stopping water level LWL.
