Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a control method which allow parking by automatic driving even in an environment where positioning by means of satellite navigation is not possible.SOLUTION: A control device for controlling the traveling of a vehicle comprises: a position estimation unit which uses a detection result of a first sensor detecting information about the position of a vehicle on a global map to estimate the position of the vehicle on the global map and generate a position estimation result; a control unit which uses at least the position estimation result to cause the vehicle to travel toward a parking target; and a determination unit which determines whether or not a parking space is available at the parking target. When a parking space is available at the parking target, the control unit stops using the position estimation result and uses a detection result of a second sensor detecting local conditions around the vehicle to let the vehicle park in the parking space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
