Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a control device for a motor driven power steering device, which can detect the failure of a motor current detection circuit.
CONSTITUTION: Voltage is applied to a motor for the specified period of time T with an ignition key turned on. When it is detected by an ignition key-ON detector 31 that the ignition key has been turned on, battery voltage detected by a battery voltage detector 36, a duty ratio of a PWM signal, and a motor current value (i) detected by a motor current detector 42 at a time when the predetermined specified period of time T0 (T0<T) has elapsed are inputted into a failure detector 32 as a sample value. The failure detector 32 then operates the estimated value (is) of motor current based on battery voltage, a duty ratio of a PWM signal, and resistance R between motor terminals so as to be compared with the motor current value (i) as a sample value. When an absolute value of (is-i) is larger than a specified allowable value Δi, it is thereby judged that the motor current detector 42 has failed.
