In a set-value setting screen displayed on a display 21, set items related to the movement of an embroidery frame 17, i.e., a stitch possible area and an embroidery frame retreat position, are displayed, and set items about stitching, i.e., the sensitivity to thread breakage and the number of stitch-back seams, are displayed. A cursor 21a is moved by the cursor moving key of a keyboard and an optimum set value corresponding to each items is set by the numeric keys of the keyboards, and names to be registered are set, so that the set values for the plurality of set items are combined into groups, each stored along with its corresponding name. By simply selecting a desired name, the set value for either of the plurality of set items corresponding to this name can be read and written on a RAM, so that the setting work for the set values for the plurality of set times can be performed accurately, easily and quickly for the efficiency of stitching work.
