To provide a control device for a shift clutch of a dobby used for driving a heald shaft of a loom.
The control device 53 of the clutch assembly of a dobby has a selection finger 28 driven by an electromagnet 37. The selection finger is rigidly connected to an armature 47 having a curved part and a straight part. An air gap 48 unaffected by the pivot position of the selection finger is formed by the curved armature part in combination with a properly curved magnetic pole 45 of a magnetic circuit. The other magnetic pole 46 of the electromagnet 37 forms a variable straight air gap 49 having a size as a function of the pivot position of the selection finger. The maximum width of a trapezoidal gap is essentially smaller than the outer end path of the selection finger 28 between two selection positions by the existing leverage. The distance A between the pivot center 32 and the variable air gap 49 is essentially shorter than the length of the selection finger 28.
