Abstract:
PURPOSE:To relieve the action of engine brake and improve the drivability by cutting off the transmission of power from an engine to a continuously variable transmission for a defined time for relieving engine brake at the time of requiring the kick down of gear ratio. CONSTITUTION:At the time of requiring kick down, a clutch device 22 is controlled to a cut-off side by a clutch control means 38 for a defined time for relieving engine brake, to cut off the transmission of power. Thereupon, the inertia of an engine becomes low, resulting in increasing engine speed, oil pressure regulating means 30, 31 are controlled by a gear ratio control means 37 to reduce the effective radius of a driving side pulley 7 and to increase the effective radius of a driven side pulley 9, thus a gear ratio changes rapidly to a low speed side. And, when the specified time elapsed, the control by the clutch control means 38 is removed and the clutch device 22 is engaged. At this time, since the engine speed is in a relatively high condition, the action of engine brake is restrained or removed effectively improving the drivability at the time of kick down.
