PURPOSE:To prevent a superconducting apparatus from being quenched by a method wherein a superconductor whose critical temperature or critical magnetic field is different from that of a superconductor for the superconducting apparatus is built in and controls an electric current to be conducted or a cooling operation. CONSTITUTION:Superconductors whose critical temperature or critical magnetic field is different from that of a superconductor for a superconducting coil(b) are built in as sensors C1-C6; an electric current to be impressed on the superconducting coil (b) or a cooling operation of a cooling device (a) is controlled by signals from these sensors C1-C6. That is, if temperature values of less than the critical temperature are taken at two points T1, T2, an electric current I1 flowing to the superconductor at T1 differs from an electric current I2 flowing to the superconductor at T2.
