To provide a control device for a synchronous motor in which a q-phase current command and a d-phase current command are generated fast and the synchronous motor can be controlled stably.
A control device 1 for a permanent magnet synchronous motor comprises a first candidate value computation section 11, a second candidate value computation section 12, a q-phase current command section 13 and a d-phase current command section 14. The first candidate value computation section 11 calculates a first d-phase current limitation candidate value and a q-phase current limitation candidate value from a current limitation value, a voltage limitation value and a motor speed. The second candidate value computation section 12 calculates a second d-phase current limitation candidate value and a q-phase current limitation candidate value from the voltage limitation value and the motor speed. In the q-phase current command section 13, in the case where an absolute value of the first d-phase current limitation candidate value is smaller than an absolute value of the second d-phase current limitation candidate value, the first q-phase current limitation candidate value is defined as a q-phase current limitation value and in the other case, the second q-phase current limitation candidate value is defined as the q-phase current limitation value. In the d-phase current command section 14, in the case where the absolute value of the first d-phase current limitation candidate value is smaller than the absolute value of the second d-phase current limitation candidate value, the first d-phase current limitation candidate value is defined as a d-phase current limitation value and in the other case, the second d-phase current limitation candidate value is defined as the d-phase current limitation value.
