When either of a first and second clutches 140, 141 is connected and one of a plurality of change gears of a transmission mechanism on a side corresponding to the clutch in the connected state is selected, a change gear of a stage closest to the selected change gear of the transmission mechanism on a side corresponding to the clutch in the connected state is selected as a change gear of a transmission mechanism on a side corresponding to the clutch in the released state. The optimal assist gear is selected thereby, and increase of machine sound, rotary inertia resistance, and the like are suppressed so that noise reduction and fuel economy of the vehicle are improved more than before.
