To provide a control technique for vehicle, capable of preventing, when a vehicle performs acceleration and coasting, an internal combustion engine from operating in an operating state with high fuel consumption rate during acceleration running.
An HVECU 100 makes a vehicle 1 perform an acceleration and coasting in which the vehicle 1 runs by repeatedly performing an acceleration running in the vehicle 1 runs with acceleration by being driven by a driving power transmitted to a drive wheel 94 of an engine output with an internal combustion engine 10 being in operating condition and a coasting in which the vehicle 1 coasts by inertial force with the internal combustion engine 10 being in a non-operating state. In at least one of just after setting the internal combustion engine 10 to the operating state and just before setting the internal combustion engine 10 to the non-operating state during the acceleration running, the HVECU 100 reduces the driving power, compared with in the middle of the acceleration running, and increases the charging power, compared with in the middle of the acceleration running.
