This control device for the vehicle is applied to the vehicle provided with the internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders and performing the cylinder cut-off operation resting some of the plurality of cylinders or the whole cylinder, and includes a control means performing control with respect to the internal combustion engine so that the number of cylinders to be rested among the plurality of cylinders is increased in comparison with the case that the degree of a downhill is small if the degree of the downhill is large when the vehicle travels on the downhill road. Thereby, it is possible to generate the appropriate acceleration even if an acceleration operation is performed during traveling on the downhill road. That is, it is possible to appropriately suppress generation of acceleration causing discomfort with respect to a driver.
