Abstract:

To provide a control method of an ESPAR (Electronically Steerable Passive Array Radiator) antenna that can calculate an optimum solution of a reactance value of each variable reactance element in a short calculation time when the major beam of an antenna system is directed to a desired wave and the null pattern is directed to an interference wave.

An adaptive control type controller 20 calculates an evaluation function value Qt on the basis of a received reception signal y(t), uses the Marcato method having a Marcato number on the basis of the evaluation function value Qt to calculate a difference reactance value of each of variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6, sequentially repeats perturbation of the reactance of each of the variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 by a prescribed difference reactance value so as to calculate and set the optimum solution of the reactance value of each of the variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 for directing the major beam to the direction of the desired wave and the null pattern to the direction of the interference wave for maximization of the evaluation function value thereby controlling the Marcato number α to be gradually decreased as the reactance value approaches the optimum solution.
