A control method has the steps where: a power control circuit stops power supply to a display drive device and latch circuits; the power control circuit supplies power to the display drive device after stopping power supplied to the display drive device and latch circuits; the display drive device applies a first voltage to a common electrode after supplying power to the display drive device; the display drive device applies a second voltage different from the first voltage and changes different potentials of pixel electrodes depending on the charge state of a storage electro-optical layer to the common electrode after the application of the first voltage; the display drive device applies a third voltage that is a voltage between the first voltage and the second voltage to the common electrode after the application of the second voltage; and the power control circuit supplies power to the latch circuits after the application of the third voltage.
