Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a direct coupled clutch to be continually controlled in a suitable mode, by mutually deviating an engaging range of the direct coupled clutch in the first and the second speed change pattern, in the case of a speed changer which switches a number of speed change shifts by selecting a speed change pattern. CONSTITUTION:A speed changer, having a subgear speed changer 10 and a main gear speed changer 11 arranged in series to a fluid type torque converter 2 with a direct coupled clutch 6 and selectively obtaining a 5-forward and 1-reverse speed chage shift including an overdrive shift, stores in a memory means in an electronic control device 60 an output running pattern switching a speed change shift between the first, second and the third speed shifts and an exonomical running pattern switching a speed change shift between the first and the third speed shifts. And the direct coupled clutch 6 is set to a working range so as to more include a torque amplifying range of the torque converter 2 when the economical running pattern is selected as compared with when the output running pattern is selected.
