PURPOSE: To correct dispersion between cylinders only by adding one nozzle lift sensor by utilizing a slippage amount between the ignition timing of a reference cylinder which is a cylinder with a nozzle lift sensor and the ignition timing of another cylinder as a correction amount for a spill valve command value by nonuniform amount compensation control.
CONSTITUTION: A spill valve 18 command value is corrected in such a manner that during idling, the maximum rotating speed of each cylinder 16 is the average of the maximum rotating speeds of the respective cylinders 16 by nonuniform amount compensation control. The correction amount is calculated according to each valve opening pressure difference to be plus if the nozzle opening valve pressure is higher than the average value or to be minus if lower. Accordingly, opening valve pressure slippage amount of each cylinder can be estimated from the opening valve pressure of the reference cylinder 16b by comparing the reference cylinder 16b which is a cylinder with a nozzle lift sensor with the correction amount of another cylinder 16. The ignition timing of each cylinder can be estimated from the relationship between the opening valve pressure slippage amount and the ignition timing and a nozzle lift signal.
