PURPOSE: To minimize the wear of a photosensitive body and defective image quality by independently driving a photosensitive material carrying means and the photosensitive body, rotating the photosensitive body after image formation and stopping the body in one rotation after a final image is transferred onto transfer material.
CONSTITUTION: The rotation of the photosensitive body 1 is stopped until a part of the photosensitive body 1 right below a transfer charger 5 when a final toner image is completely transferred onto the transfer material comes right above a main electrifying charger 2. Consequently, the area of photosensitive body passing through a cleaning device in the state adhering no toner grows becomes belows one circulation of the sensitive body, whereby the wear amount of the surface layer is reduced, and an image flow resulting from reiterative copying is minimized at a high temperature. After the photosensitive body right beneath the charger 5 at the end of transferring a final toner image advances ahead of the device 7, its rotating action is stopped, whereby toner remaining on the photosensitive body is cleaned out to prevent toner splashing.
