To provide a control muffler capable of reducing the restriction on the layout in the main body of the main muffler and improving the flexibility of tuning of the muffing characteristic by allowing the tuning of the muffling characteristic utilizing the whole space under the floor of a vehicle as well as the inside of the main body of the main muffler for achieving the optimal muffling characteristic.
Center mufflers 9 and 10 are mounted respectively in the middle of two branch pipes 6 and 6 branched via a branching part 8 of a rear tube 5 guiding exhaust gas of the engine via a catalyst converter 3, and a rear muffler 11 is mounted on the downstream side of the two branch pipes 6 and 7. A control butterfly valve 15 for opening/closing the inside of the branch pipe 6 between the center muffler 9 mounted in the branch pipe 56 and the rear muffler 11 is mounted in the branch pipe 6 of the two branch pipes 6 and 7.
