PURPOSE: To simplify operability and prevent misoperation while improving productivity through omitting boring and the like by forming an escalator control panel integrally of a wheelchair operation control panel and a normal operation control panel positioned on the opposite side of a footstep.

CONSTITUTION: An escalator control panel 23 is disposed in a space 22 obtained by enlarging a gap between the joints 8a of transparent panels 8 at a getting-on place 2. A normal operation control panel 15A forming the control panel 23 is disposed on the opposite side of the footstep 7 of an escalator, and a wheelchair operation control panel 17A is disposed on the footstep 7 side of the escalator. Accordingly, it is impossible for an operator to see both control panels 15A, 17A at the same time, and the place for an operator to stand at the operating time is entirely different according to the operation mode, so that the operator can remember this difference easily to prevent hesitant operation or misoperation positively. In addition, since there is no need to bore a hole in the transparent panel 8, cracking generated during quenching in the manufacturing process of the panel 8 is dissolved to positively prevent the lowering of handrail strength caused by this hole.
