To provide a method for controlling a control roll in a paper machine, enabling to suppress the generation of overshoot on the control of a press force in a press device for pressing the outer portion of the control roll for controlling the quality of paper, and not affected by the skill level of an operator.
This method for controlling a control roll in a paper machine comprises arithmetically determining target pressures acted on the respective hydraulic cylinder devices for pressing the control roll, determining pressure deviations which are differences between the determined target pressures and real pressures presently acting on the control roll, determining pressure differential values by differentiating the real pressures, inputting the pressure deviations and the pressure differential values into a fuzzy operation part 34 for control, determining the opening degree deviation of a hydraulic valve 19 for controlling in the hydraulic cylinder devices, and determining the controlled opening degree of the hydraulic valve 19 by adding the present opening degree to the determined opening degree deviation.
