To suppress the heat generation of a motor in a stopped state of a loom and miniaturize the motor in an electric shedding device.
The value of electric current for energizing a motor 4 for driving the respective heald frames 3 is reduced to a prescribed value at the time of stopping a loom and the driving torque for the motor 4 is lowered to thereby move the heald frames 3 in a closing direction by a tension of warp yarns 20. The value of the electric current for energizing the motor 4 is raised to a prescribed value to thereby raise the driving torque of the motor 4, and the heald frames 3 are moved to a prescribed shedding position at the time of restarting the operation of the loom in an electric shedding device 1 capable of reciprocating and moving plural heald frames 3 with the motor 4 and a motion converting means 5 which are respectively independent and driving the respective heald frames 3 in a state synchronized with a main shaft 15 of the loom with the extent of shedding by a shedding motion of the respective heald frames 3 based on a prescribed shedding pattern.
