Abstract:
To suitably determine whether condensate water generated in an EGR cooler flows into an intake passage or not in an engine in which the EGR cooler is provided in EGR piping.SOLUTION: An ECU controls an engine in which an EGR pre-cooler and an EGR main cooler are provided in EGR piping. The ECU calculates "pre-cooler inlet humidity Ha" showing an amount of steam contained in exhaust gas in the vicinity of an inlet (pre-cooler inlet) to the EGR pre-cooler in the EGR piping, and acquires "EGR gas outlet humidity Hb" showing the amount of the steam contained in the exhaust gas in the vicinity of an outlet (EGR gas outlet) to an intake passage in the EGR piping from a humidity sensor provided in the EGR gas outlet. The ECU determines that condensate water generated in the EGR pre-cooler flows into the intake passage when the pre-cooler inlet humidity Ha is larger than the EGR gas outlet humidity Hb.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
