Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for an internal combustion engine, by means of which efficient scavenging is performed by the time when an internal combustion engine stops, and the occurrence of acidic condensed water in a combustion chamber or an EGR passage can be suppressed as a result.SOLUTION: A control system 20 according to the present invention is applied to an internal combustion engine 1A that includes: a motor compressor 7 provided in an intake passage 3; a high-pressure EGR passage 15 which connects a section 3b of the intake passage 3 downstream from the motor compressor 7 to an exhaust passage 4 and which recirculates as EGR gas, a part of exhaust gas exhausted to an exhaust manifold 4c included in the exhaust passage 4 to an intake manifold 3d included in the intake passage 3; and a high-pressure EGR valve 18 provided in the high-pressure EGR passage 15. When instructed to stop the internal combustion engine 1A, an ECU 21 opens the high-pressure EGR valve 18 and causes the motor compressor 7 to operate so that a pressure in the intake manifold 3d is higher than a pressure in the exhaust manifold 4c.
