Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise which is generated when a mechanical compression ratio is set at a prescribed low compression ratio, in an internal combustion engine having a variable compression mechanism using a variable length connecting rod.SOLUTION: Since a hydraulic piston slides in a hydraulic cylinder arranged at a connecting rod main body, an effective length of a variable connecting rod becomes changeable. Then, when a mechanical compression ratio is set at a prescribed low compression ratio, a working fluid is discharged from the hydraulic cylinder, and the hydraulic piston is descended to a bottom face of the hydraulic cylinder in the hydraulic cylinder. At this time, in the case that the mechanical compression ratio is set at the prescribed low compression ratio, when an engine rotational speed is not lower than a prescribed rotational speed, ignition timing is retarded more than the case that the engine rotational speed is lower than the prescribed rotational speed so that the ignition timing is apart from MBT more than the case that the engine rotational speed is lower than the prescribed rotational speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
