Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a staple from being driven on characters which are picture- image formed by inhibitting a saddle stitching mode when the saddle stitching mode is selected in a condition in which a book binding mode is not selected.
SOLUTION: When a user presses a book binding mode selection button (S18), it is judged whether a book binding mode has been selected before the button is pressed or not (S19). If the book binding mode has been selected before the book binding mode selection button is pressed, the book binding mode is released (S24) to judge whether a copying machine is provided with a book binder (a saddle stitching machine may be used) or not (S25). If the book binder is not provided, the processing by the book binding mode selection button ends, and if the book binder is provided, whether a saddle stitching mode is selected or not is judged (S26). If the saddle stitching mode is selected, the saddle stitching mode is released automatically (S27) to end the processing by the book binding mode selection button.
