Abstract:

To properly control nipping pressure in a belt type continuously variable transmission.

This controller for the continuously variable transmission is composed of pulleys 13, 14 around which a belt 17 is wound, respective pulleys 13, 14 nip the belt 17 in accordance with supplied pressure, and pressure of the pulley 13 on one side is controlled for variable speed control. This controller is provided with a variable speed control direction determining means for determining current direction of variable speed control (step S102), a coefficient determining means for obtaining a predetermined coefficient based on the results of determination by the variable speed control direction determining means (steps S103 and S104), a pulley pressure change rate determining means for obtaining a pressure change rate of the pulley 13 on one side from the predetermined coefficient calculated by the coefficient determining means and target variable speed control speed (step S106), and a pulley pressure control means for calculating and controlling target pulley pressure of the pulley 13 on one side from actual pulley pressure of the pulley 13 on one side and the pulley pressure change rate on one side obtained by the pulley pressure change rate determining means (step S107).
