A game machine comprises a speaker 4, a display screen 5, a game machine body 2 for controlling the speaker 4 and the display screen 5, and a storing medium that is installed in the game machine body 2 and stores at lest one or more pieces of music and a series of dance during images related to each piece of music. The game machine body 2 reproduces the music in the speaker 4 and displays the dance guiding images on the display screen 5. A portable controller 10 for dance game evaluates dance operations of the player by comparing the dance guiding situation with the dance operations of the player, and is removably connected to the game machine body 2 in a dance game device. The controller is disposed around a dance region A of the player, and has a plurality of individual detectors 11 to 15 that detect the dance operations of the player with noncontact and output a detection signal to the game machine body 2.
