PURPOSE: To prevent an abnormality display from remaining on a screen for several seconds after a power breaking by adding circuits for putting the screen display into a non-display state after the request for the power breaking and hand shake circuits for hand shaking the power breaking request signal and power breaking permission signal to a display controller.

CONSTITUTION: This controller is constituted of an after-image preventive controller 1, a video RAM 2, a clock generating circuit 3, a X driving circuit 4, a Y driving circuit 5, and a liquid crystal panel 6. The after-image controller 1 is constituted of the display controller 7, the circuits 8, 11 which put the screen display into the non-display state and the hand shake circuits 8 to 10. The screen display is, therefore, completely erased after the power breaking request. The remaining of the abnormality display on the screen for several seconds after the power breaking is prevented in this way.
