PURPOSE: To straighten a shape without buckling by installing drafting brackets orthogonally to the travel direction of a rolled sheet, mounting plural expansible hydraulic cylinders, and also mounting a rotatable vertical roll on each of the cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: A driver 17 is actuated to move drafting brackets 13, 13' to match a width of a rolled sheet 1 and a driver 30 is actuated to operate a hydraulic pump 29 when a tension is generated in the sheet 1 by a rolling mill. Hydraulic cylinders 18, 18' and 19, 19' are expanded to edge the sheet 1 by vertical rolls 20, 20' and 21, 21'. Loads applied on load cells mounted on the vertical rolls 20, etc., are sent to an arithmetic unit 24 as signals and are compared with loads on the vertical rolls 20, etc. Signal controlling the cylinders 18, etc., are sent to pressure control valves 25, 25' and 26, 26' to adjust pressurized liquid, so that drafting forces on the vertical rolls 20, etc., are distributed and the total draft load is kept at a constant value. Hence, sufficient shape straightening the stock 1 without buckling is performable.
