To provide a controller for an elevator capable of preventing tripping of a main switch in a building.
A first current detecting device 9 detects a current passing through an elevator, while a second current detecting device 13 detects a current used by respective devices in a building. A current calculating device 10 calculates whether the elevator can be used or not with respect to a current value, on the basis of outputs from the first current detecting device 9 and the second current detecting device 13. A circuit cut-off output device 11 outputs a command for cutting off circuits not working against traveling of the elevator, according to a signal from the current calculating device 10. Thus, according to the output from the current calculating device 10, it is decided whether each the circuit is cut off or not, so that the usable circuits are restricted.
