Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify a preliminarily exciter without using a chopper or the like by supplying an exciting current from a DC power source separately provided to a motor by the switching operation of the arms of the respective phase of a polyphase inverter at the generating brake time. CONSTITUTION:When an induction motor IM for driving an electric railcar is controlled by an inverter having GTO1-GTO6 and freewheel diodes D1-D6, a preliminary exciter EX which has a battery EB, a reactor LE and diodes DE1- DE3 is provided, and connected to the anodes of the GTO2, GTO4, GTO6 of the phase arms of the inverter. Accordingly, a contactor is opened, currents of positive half wave 2-phase and negative half 1-phase are branched from a battery EB by the switching operation at the generating brake time by the chopper CH operation as a preliminariy exciting current, an exciter EX can be extremely simplified.
