Abstract:
To prevent deterioration of startability of an internal combustion engine resulting from intrusion of foreign matter into a suction valve or exhaust valve of a cylinder, and further suppress increase of engine speed right after start.SOLUTION: A controller of an internal combustion engine is configured to: detect the degree to which the pressure in a suction passage connected to a cylinder is affected by the intrusion of foreign matter between a valve body and a valve seat of a suction valve or exhaust valve of the cylinder during the operation of the internal combustion engine; and when starting the internal combustion engine, adjust at least one of an amount of air sucked into the cylinder, an amount of fuel injected into the cylinder, and ignition timing of air-fuel mixture charged in the cylinder, according to the degree.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
