Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect the condition of a purge control valve surely by providing an electronic control circuit, and utilizing an idle engine speed control means which adjusts the amount of suctioned air of engine effectively so as to achieve the target engine speed during idle operation of engine.
CONSTITUTION: An electronic control circuit 25 controls the amount of suctioned air by adjusting degree of opening of an engine speed control valve 8 so as to achieve the target engine speed during idle operation of an engine 1. At the same time, when air-fuel ratio of mixer to engine 1 which is detected by an O2 sensor 12 is controlled to a constant ratio, a purge control valve 23 is forcedly changed into fully opened condition and the predetermined degree of opening condition. The amount of change of degree of opening of engine speed control valve 8 at that time is obtained. When the amount of change of degree of opening is deviated from the previously determined scope of allowance, it is judged that an abnormality has occurred, and an alarm lamp 38 is lit to give an alarm. Thus, it is possible to detect reduction of purge capacity of purge system.
