To shorten a cycle time by precluding an extra operation in timing of a cutting edge check, for example, after a program, in a machine tool with a changeable tool attached to a spindle.

A substrate drilling machine lets the timing of a cutting edge check on a tool specifiable in a parameter setting screen (four bottom rows in Fig.). When the flag of 'tool check after program' is set at '1', for example, the cutting edge check is carried out after the execution of a machining program, which precludes a conventionally observed unnecessary tool change. The cycle time can be shortened accordingly.
