Abstract:
PURPOSE:To surely prevent the foul use of a magnetic card by providing a check code area to the card for genuineness of this card and setting the card under an unavailable state if the card is intentionally pulled out while it is inserted. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic card 3 is put into a magnetic card reader 2, an amount code of the card 3 is read and at the same time the presence or absence of a check code is decided. If the presence of the check code is confirmed, the card 3 is returned after deciding that the card 3 is unjustly pulled out in a preceding sale mode. If the absence of the check code is confirmed, the amount read to an amount display device 8 is displayed and sale of a desired article is allowed. Then the balance is written to the amount code of the card 3 and at the same time a false code is erased. The card 3 is returned to complete the sale. As a result, the card 3 is unavailable if it is forcibly pulled out before the balance is calculated.
