Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce change of the number of rotations of an engine for output change of a generator and also surely prevent over charging by independently controlling the output of the power generator.
SOLUTION: A controller of this series hybrid electric vehicle calculates the chargeable maximum power of a battery with the maximum chargeable power calculating section 21, also calculates the maximum output value allowed to the generator with the maximum power generation calculating section 23 and also calculates the maximum number of rotations allowed to the internal combustion engine with the internal combustion engine maximum number of rotation calculating section 24. A generator output controller 26 controls power generation of the generator to the value lower than the allowable maximum output value and also controls the number of rotations of the internal combustion engine so that the internal combustion engine controller 29 is in the restricted maximum number of rotations or less. Thereby, the maximum power generation output of generator is restricted depending on the condition of battery, the maximum number of rotations of engine is also restricted depending on the battery condition to surely prevent over charging of battery due to excessive increase of generation output of generator side.
