Abstract:

To provide a controller of a torque converter with the lock up system that detects the working oil temperature of the torque converter and the water temperature of the engine cooling water, and permits the engagement operation of a lock up clutch at a preferably low stage of these temperature after starting the engine according to these detected values.

This controller of the torque converter with the lock up system has a water temperature sensor B1, an oil temperature sensor B2 and a temperature comparison means B3 that compares and judges the temperature detected by the water temperature sensor B1 and the oil temperature sensor B2 with the prescribed temperature. It has the first permission condition that allows the engagement operation of the lock up clutch when the detected value by the water temperature sensor B1 is judged to be over the first prescribed temperature by the temperature comparison means B3, and the second permission condition that allows the engagement operation of the lock up clutch when the detected value by the water temperature sensor B1 is judged to be over the second prescribed temperature being smaller than the first prescribed temperature, and the detected value by the oil temperature sensor B2 is judged to be over the third prescribed temperature by the temperature comparison means B3. And it controls the engagement operation of the lock up clutch based on the first permission condition or the second permission condition.
