To effectively utilize kinetic energy during deceleration of a vehicle in a system capable of transmitting engine power and motor power to an axle.
During deceleration of a vehicle, when the SOC of a battery 31 is lower than an upper limit threshold value, clutches 23 to 25 are all cut off, and a second MG 14 is rotary-driven by power of an axle 28 to execute MG regeneration control for charging the battery 31 with power generated by the second MG 14. When the SOC of the battery 31 is equal to or higher than the upper limit threshold value, the clutches 23 to 25 are controlled to transmit the power of the axle 28 to an engine 12, and engine regeneration control for rotary-driving the engine 12 of a fuel stop state by the power of the axle 28 is executed. During the deceleration of the vehicle, an engine revolution speed is increased to a revolution speed region enabling restarting (engine revolution speed enabling starting of engine 12 only by resuming fuel injection or ignition).
