The controller 17 is provided with: a malfunction detection part 23 which detects a malfunction of a hill-hold control means; and an interlock part 27 which, when the malfunction of the hill-hold control means is detected by the malfunction detection par 23, interlocks an automatic transmission 3 by adding a fastening torque capacity to prescribed friction engagement elements for forming a gear shift required at the time of starting the vehicle and to friction engagement elements other than these prescribed friction engagement elements out of a plurality of friction engagement elements, when the hill-hold control should be performed.
