Abstract:

PURPOSE: To supply the assisting force required for the steering of an electric automobile by driving a drive motor.

CONSTITUTION: A torque sensor 24 detects a steering torque. A driving torque controller 26 calculates a required assisting torque from the detected steering torque. Then the controller 26 calculates the driving torques of a left and right wheel-in-motors 10a and 10b at which the calculated required assisting torque can be obtained and controls the drive of the motors 10a and 10b. Since the drive of the motors 10a and 10b is controlled by finding the required assisting force from the steering torque in such a way, the steering of a wheel-in-motor type electric automobile can be suitably assisted even when the automobile is in rest steering.
