Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the production of needled felt and produce a needled felt having improved uniformity of the quality.
SOLUTION: A magnetic detection piece is fixed to a ground fabric, the circulation number of the ground fabric is detected by a magnetic sensor of a sensor block 53 placed at the side of a needling machine 7 and the needling depth, the needling density, the cloth feeding speed and the tension of the cloth are properly changed according to the number of circulation. The air- permeability and the thickness of the needled felt produced by the needling machine 7 are measured in the needling process and the operation controlling factors of the needling machine 7 are properly adjusted according to each measured result. The process is effective for automating the needling machine, eliminating the troublesome operation inherent to manual work and producing a needled felt having uniform quality by excluding the influence of the personal difference of the operators.
