CONSTITUTION: A multistage centrifugal compressor 1 has a plurality of inlet guide vanes 11-14 and diffuser vanes 15-18 respectively driven by a plurality of drive devices 19a-19h. The respective drive devices 19a-19h are controlled by a controller 28 on the basis of respective detecting signals from a flow sensor 20, temperature sensor 21, pressure sensor 22, rotational frequency sensor 24 and humidity sensor 27. Then, when the actual running condition differs from a plurality of preset running conditions, deduced parameters are composed according to the difference. After a property function is determined according to the deduced parameters, respective vane angle operating amount is determined according to the property function.
