Abstract:

PURPOSE: To rapidly and accurately control the diameter of a glass tube in a molding stage necessitating dead time with good reproducibility.
CONSTITUTION: In a learning stage (steps S1-S4), a tube diameter measured at a certain point of time is compared with the tube diameter at this point of time which has been estimated by a model formula of the molding process of a glass tube. The model formula having the high degree of assurance is obtained by compensating both dead time and molding characteristics in the model formula so that the error is reduced. In an estimating stage (steps S5, 86), process behavior concretely dead time and the tube diameter of the future are predicted by using the model formula obtained in the learning stage. In the controlling stage (steps S7-S9), the deviation of both the target value of the tube diameter and the estimated value of the pipe diameter obtained in the estimating stage is calculated. Manipulated variable (regulating amount of blow pressure) necessary to reduce this deviation is decided.
