Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable quick removal of dew between a brush and a slip ring at the time of starting.

CONSTITUTION: On the occasion when a turbine generator 10 is operated as a motor, an AC power is converted into a DC power by a power rectifier 36, this DC power is converted into the AC power by a power inverter 32, this AC power is supplied to an armature winding of the turbine generator 10, the AC power is converted into the DC power by a power rectifier 52 and this DC current is supplied for a field winding power through a current collector 22. A field winding current is made larger than a nonload rated current until a rotational speed of the turbine generator 10 reaches a set low-speed rotation area from the time of starting when the speed is zero. Thereby the quantity of heat generated around a brush is made large, dew is evaporated promptly and a stable film is formed on the slide surface of a slip ring by a subsequent operation. Therefore the sliding characteristic of the brush is made stable and a stable power can be supplied to a load when a synchronous motor-generator is operated as a generator.
