PURPOSE: To enhance drying performance and to enhance energy and electric power consumption by incorporating an air current system into a compact package within the half part of each dryer enclosing a web.

CONSTITUTION: The dryer of a convective system for drying the web W subjected to a coating treatment has at least one module 54a on one side of a progressing course P of the web. The module 54a has a first chamber A opened in the direction of the path P of web travel and a housing segmented to an adjacent closed second chamber B. The nozzle assemblies 74 parted from each other extend transversely across the path P of web travel in the first chamber A. The nozzle assemblies 74 are connected to the air heating and circulating device within the second chamber B by an air feed duct 72. The air feed duct 72 is gradually branched from the narrow air suction portion communicating with the second chamber nearly toward a widened blow-off end 71c communicating with the nozzle assemblies at the center of the path P of web travel.
